The Shetland Sheepdog, often known as the Sheltie, is a breed of herding dog. They are small to medium dogs and come from a variety of colors. They are vocal, excitable, energetic dogs that are always willing to please and work hard. The Shetland Sheepdog is a lively, intelligent, playful, trainable, and willing to please and obey. They are loving, loyal, and affectionate with their family, but are naturally aloof with strangers, so it is good to socialize them. The Shetland Sheepdog does well with children.These are vocal dogs and are very alert to their surroundings. The herding instinct is strong in Shelties. They love to chase and herd things, including squirrels, ducks, children and if the owner isn’t careful cars. The Shea brilliant breed that does well with training and loves to please their owners. The Shetland Sheepdog does require a good amount of exercise daily. Rarely used today as a herding animal, the Shetland sheepdog has become a popular pet, particularly in Japan and Britain. This small, long-haired working dog is one of great beauty. The coat of this breed is abundant, with a mane and frill. The most common colors for them are Sable, tri-colored, blue merle, black and white or black and tan. The Shetland Sheepdog is an alert and gentle breed, affectionate and responsive to owners, but sometimes reserved to strangers.
